Self care : mind training

I believe a big part of self-care is just being conscious of it in daily life. The more aware you are of it in everyday life the more it will encourage you to feel good about what you’re doing, creating a more positive life balance.

It’s OK to forget about self-care in your daily routine, we can’t all be expected to change our outlook on what we are doing constantly in the day, which is why there are many things that can help you to still maintain a sense of self care such as

Writing things down
writing things down is a great habit to get into this allows you to look back over what has made you feel good, things you have done for yourself and also show you how far you have come. This can be something you keep by your bedside that you pick up each night before bed, or maybe something just kept on your phone calendar. And remember it doesn’t have to be something big every day.

Meditation
Meditation is a great way to take time for ourselves, allow our minds to focus or reflect and it also can be used to find our inner selves or increase pain tolerance. Meditation is becoming so much more common but still some find it hard to focus their minds or even just feel a bit silly sat still and quiet in their own home. Meditation has so many benefits to reap and like anything you don’t have to get it right first time, I find it best to start somewhere your already comfortable such as in the bath.

Talk to someone
Talking to people is a great way to share your accomplishments, whether it be with a friend, family member, professional or even somewhere online. It can also help bring you closer to those around you by making them feel like they are also part of your journey. Others can also make you feel great about what you have accomplished that day too even when you’re not.

Voice recording
Probably a very uncommon one nowadays but you can get voice recorders on the app stores now, and this way you can keep a log of everything you have done for yourself that day and you can also listen back and feel like you are hearing it from yourself, so when you are having a bad day you can listen back and remind yourself exactly what you are capable of. And no one else has to hear them so don’t be shy!

It’s great to be able to also realise by all these things even though you may not have thought about it at the time you did do stuff for yourself and you are capable of training your mind to acknowledge them at the end of the day and that is a massive achievement in itself!

  1. Wow 😮 some really good ideas. I really like the not taking, the meditation can be harder for some people however I’ve found my fellow hypnotherapists have really helped me to be able to truly relax and visualise my tranquil place. Some good self hypnosis apps out there too!
